The Quinta (around 50.000sqm.) is at
present run as a private country guesthouse, and has an international
reputation as such.

Situation
The Quinta is south-facing, nestling into a hillside in the southern
Alentejo, with a spectacular view over the lake of Santa Clara.
General
The Quinta was originally of timber construction, but has been extended
carefully over the last decade in brick and stone by the present owners
to create a truly unique paradise. It now consists of 12 bedrooms, (6
en suite), 8 bathrooms, bar, 2 reception rooms, 2 kitchens, pantry,
office, store room, power complex, 2 car garage and out buildings,
laundry, pontoons, mature terraced fruit and flower gardens, vegetable
gardens and access to the water side. Stretching in front of the
property is a mile-wide expanse of fresh water that promotes a
microclimate that keeps the environs of the Quinta warm in winter and
deliciously cool in summer. The water of the lake has an average
temperature of 28º during the summer months, and is home to
Crayfish, Wide-mouthed Bass and Pumpkinseed fish amongst others, while
also supporting Otters and Herons. Other wildlife in the area include
Wild Boar, Fox, Genet, Mongoose, Rabbit and Hare, while the gardens of
the Quinta themselves have been landscaped and planted with bushes,
trees and shrubs with the express purpose of attracting birdlife
throughout the year. Planning permission is no longer being granted for
any new properties around the lake, so the view and solitude unique to
the Quinta is guaranteed. There is one building, (a mile distant),
visible from the property. Although only one and a half hours drive
from Faro and two and a half from Lisbon, the lake and its surroundings
are refreshingly free of mass tourism.
Privacy, so precious in the modern world, is assured, while the
amenities of that world are hardly a stone’s throw away.

Lisboa, o lago e a Quinta estão longe de qualquer turismo de
massas.
